It's either the EFCC don't know what they are doing or this man is just truing to play on the emotions of those trying him for massive stealing. Afterall our President say stealing is not corruption. #AmericaWillKnow
Mr Francis Atuche, the managing director of the defunct Bank PHB, which is now Keystone Bank, is standing trial for allegedly embezzling N25.7 billion from the bank. But while defending himself, he told Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Ikeja High court during cross examination that he's never stolen in his life.
Speaking in court on Wednesday June 25th, Mr Atuche said:
"I am a Catholic. I cannot be a thief. I was baptised in the church and before I left primary school, I have started receiving Holy Communion which I do every day. I cannot receive Holy Communion when I am not in the state of grace. I cannot be a thief because God has been gracious to me."
So, does the fact that someone takes holy communion stop him from tampering with bank money which almost led to the collapse of the bank before Sanusi Lamido Sanusi intervened and save the bank?
Anyway, you may which to know that Francis Atuche and his wife Elizabeth Atuche are both facing theft charges. The case against them is that they allegedly used Bank PHB funds to set up companies using other people as fronts. One of such companies is Platinum Oil and Gas Ltd. The trial continues.
